“Most women give up on themselves once they become [moms], (Mojintouch.com, 2014).” Not this mom! She’s no slouch! Mojisola is a classy, confident woman who believes everyone should dress their best, whether you’re taking your child to school or headed to work. I had the luxury of catching up with Mojisola (of Mojintouch), and here’s what she had to say.
You started Mojintouch a little over a year ago; where do you see the blog three years from now? I am hopeful that the blog would have grown into a reputable brand and a household name. Having said that, I am taking one step at a time and growing by the day.
How would you describe your style, then versus now? I would simply say even though I think my style hasn’t really changed …the older I get, the more confident I am with what I throw on. Just like fine wine, the older it gets, the better it becomes.
You have quite an extensive background in the work environment. If you didn’t have a desire for fashion, what else would you do for a living? A mentor and motivational speaker.
What’s the most important tip you would give a new style blogger? I would say that they should be true to themselves and to focus on the reason why they started in the first place. I would also say that because nothing comes easy, they have to be hardworking.
Diamonds or pearls? Even though Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, I would have to settle for pearls. I am so classic.
Spring or fall? I was born and raised where the sun is, like the second skin so it has to be SPRING. I love the SUN.
How do you balance the time between blogging, work, and your family? If I am being honest, it doesn’t always come easy. It is different every day, but what has really helped me is that I plan everything ahead and stick with the plan all things being equal. For instance, I do marathon photos for the blog. I do not take photos daily for the blog even though I put up 3-4 posts per week. They are always in advance, and I create all the contents in advance too.
Three words to describe Ireland. Ireland is family friendly, beautiful and crazy cold in the winter.
What’s a place you wish to visit? I haven’t been to New York so I would love to.
Who is your favorite designer/stylist? There are a lot of them, but I have to go with Victoria Beckham’s effortlessly chic creations. I have a few pieces from her designs so I must say I love them.
What’s your favorite fashion era from the 20th century? I love crop tops from the 40’s, and I also love the bell bottoms from the 70’s. I think my mom looked beautiful in bell bottoms.
Have you ever been to Fashion week? NO. We are planning the AFWL this year with the sister blog I run. It is solely Traditional African Fashion.
You have an inspirational quote by Edith Head posted on your website. Is there another quote you find as encouraging? “…God has not given [me] the spirit of fear, but of power, love, and sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).” If anything goes wrong for me or with me, that scripture motivates me.
Knowing what you know now, what would you tell your younger self? I would have travelled more. I was too much of a home girl.
With so many blogs present, how do you manage to set yourself apart from other bloggers? Same advice I gave to a new style blogger. I am true to myself, and I always remember the reason why I started. Even though a lot of people motivate me, I do not aspire to be like anybody but to be better than who I was yesterday. I learn from my own mistakes and grow from there.
